TEA GRADES (Primary)
1. Pekoe Fannings 1 (PF1) - This is about 58-60% and forms the bulk of the production. It is collected over standard mesh no. 24 and made up of black grainy particles slightly smaller in size than the BP1 grade.

2. Broken Pekoe 1 (BP1) - This grade forms about 12-14% of the total production. It has the largest size and is collected over standard mesh no. 14. The liquors are a bit light in body but with encouraging flavouring characteristics e.g. Briskness.

3. Pekoe Dust (PD) - This grade is collected over standard mesh no. 40. It forms 10-12% of the production, often black and finer than the PF1 often with thick liquors and aroma.

4. Dust 1 (D1) - This is made up of smallest particles and form about 4- 6% of the total production. It is often collected over standard mesh no. 60

TEA GRADES (Secondary)
The secondary grades include F1, Dust and BMF. They form about 3-4% of the production. They are the fibrous lots and often graded according to their physical appearance. They are often used by blenders to add colour to their teas especially in bags.

1. Dust (D) - made up of tiny bits of broken leaf often used to brew strong tea quickly and popular for the tea bags

2. Fannings 1 (F1) - This is a mixture of trace of black tea and large amount of smallish cut fibres often sifted out of the primary grades. F1 forms about 3- 4% of the production and quite useful in tea bags due to its quick brewing, strong flavour and good colour.

3. Broken Mixed Fannings (BMF) - this is mainly fibrous lots withvery little trace of black tea.
